John Duffy

PT, OCS

Where's Duffy?  As of September 2008, I have moved my practice of physical therapy a few miles up the road, to Phoenix Rehabilitation!  I join up with Mike DeGregorio, PT, a highly respected peer I have known since I began my career.  The clinic phone number is 412-429-9775 for those wondering where I have gone.

A 1991 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh's Physical Therapy program, John went to work at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh until he became director of South Hills Sports Medicine Clinic in 1993. Since that time, John was also District Director for all 15 Health Trax Rehabilitation Services clinics, Manager of Clinical Operations for 12 Nova Care offices, and Clinical Coordinator for more than 10 physical therapy programs. John has performed multiple start-ups, including a complete hospital department. He has started many clinical programs, including: Occupational Medicine, orthotics, work hardening/conditioning, home care, occupational/hand therapy, and his own comprehensive outcomes program.  He has also served as a commentator for ESPN radio, and is a Health and Fitness guest on the Ellis and Tom Radio Golf show on ESPN

ALERT AS OF JULY 25 2007:  I am NOT the John Duffy ESPN commentator that was arrested for kiddie porn charges on 7/23!!!!  Far too many similarities, especially with him living just a few miles from my clinic, having the same name, in his 40's, and of course participating with ESPN.  IT'S NOT ME!  Do the research and you will see!!!  People are sending around a link for this page labeled "Pervert"!!!!!

What's really useful about the site is the Daily Update - John goes beyond the
standard PT articles to present ideas on anatomy, diagnosis, surgical and
conservative treatments. The knowledge that he brings in selecting and
critiquing the articles invariably has me going back to find the article, even
if it's just to see whether I agree or disagree with his synopsis. He makes a
real effort to incorporate current and advanced orthopedic concepts, making this
a great place to check to see what is new in the field. John and his guest
contributors create a constantly-updated store of knowledge; this feature alone
is worth the price of the lifetime membership.

John Duffy’s website is a welcome addition to our physical therapy "toolbox". John is an experienced orthopaedic clinician who strives for evidence-based practice, and his website reflects that commitment. Protocols, literature reviews, links to pertinent websites, future planned "chat rooms", and instructive treatment images are just a few of the components available within this website.

Judy Post, MPT, NovaCare Director
“PTupdate.com is the most innovative idea for experience therapists and new graduates to access information regarding the latest evaluation and treatment techniques, along with the most recent issues regarding our profession.  I personally have worked with and trained under John Duffy.  He has been an excellent mentor and a brilliant therapist who returns patients back to their prior level of function faster than any other therapist I have worked with.  In creating this site for physical therapists, John shows his love for teaching and sharing the knowledge and skills he has accumulated throughout the years as a therapist and manager."

Christopher B. Staub, Facility Director
“In the current rehabilitation market, superior skills are needed to help patients recover faster.  I can attribute much of the success that I have had in treating patients to the skills that I learned from John Duffy."

Dennis Sims, PT, Certified McKenzie Therapist
“John Duffy’s dedication and experience in the field of orthopaedic physical therapy has given him a strong knowledge base for insight into efficient protocols for successful outcomes.  I have been a physical therapist for 13 years, and also an owner of several clinics.  John’s thriving success is the direct result of good outcomes.  I feel the only way you can stay in this business this long is by getting your patient better, and John has succeeded in this arena.”

I enjoy your website. My current employer limits CE so I frequent your site often to enhance my knowledge and skills at a very reasonable price.
